Type of Project: Augmented Reality experience - product development, prototype, design, 3D asset optimisation, ARCore native app development, QA and release.


In partnership with Disney and Lucas Films, Samsung released Star Wars ‘Invasion #withgalaxy’, an world-first AR experience exclusively for Samsung Members.

Fans were given the unique opportunity to see their favourite starships fly from hyperspace, into the skies above them, in realtime. Using geo-fencing, the experience was first teased in 7 cities across the US. With a different starship landing in each city every day for a week. Once the nationwide film release hit, the geo-fences were lifted and fans across the country could have this awesome experience.

We were experimenting with new technology and pushing the cinematic boundaries of AR in a way that had never been done before. How do you make the Star Destroyer, the most iconic starship of all time, look amazing and perform seamlessly as a 3D object in AR? Where you’re dealing with a matter KB not 10s of GB. Through the skill of excellent CG artists, AR technology experts and the cpu and gpu of the Galaxy devices we were able to create a unique, high quality cinematic AR experience for notoriously tough-to-please Star Wars fans.

This was the first AR Tour ever launched. The experience reached 50 million Galaxy owners, and saw +74% Google Play store visits, +27% Member App downloads and +31% daily users of the Samsung Members App.
